Herman Cain serves as the keynote speaker at the 2018 GIADA Convention & Expo
By Jordan Head, Marketing and Public Relations Manager at GIADA
On July 13, all eyes and ears were open as Herman Cain, business man, advocate and radio talk show host, took the stage for dealer training during the 2018 GIADA Convention & Expo. Cain was greatly received by a large crowd of dealers, GIADA members and industry executives. The convention took place at the Hyatt Regency Savannah in Savannah, GA.
Cain spoke on a plethora of topics including his humble upbringing, corporate success, marketing and small business. Kim New, owner of Style Auto Broker and Style Financial Acceptance and GIADA executive committee member, said she enjoyed his speech due to the valuable information she received from it.
“Herman Cain was charismatic and his speech was dynamic,” said New. “One of the most memorable parts of the speech was when he said he found a marketing book on a plane, read it and took excerpts from it. He accredited that book to a lot of his success. That impressed me so much that I bought the book he referenced. I thought, ‘I have to read what he read because I’d like to emulate greatness.’”
Another focal point was his guiding principles of success. According to Cain, these principles aim to help individuals in their journey toward their goals and dreams.
“I enjoyed when he spoke about his guiding principles of success,” said New. “Those principles include asking the right questions, working on the right problems, removing barriers, listening and focusing on results. You definitely have to stay the course and work on the right problems.”
During his tenure as the CEO of God Father’s Pizza, Cain made several changes that returned the company to probability. Some included closing a portion of the company’s restaurants, firing approximately 300 – 400 people and cutting unnecessary expenses such as toppings and salad bars.
Cain compared this theme of “cutting costs” to the decisions used-car dealers and small-business owners have to make daily.
“Everything he spoke about resonates with our industry and everyday life,” said New. “It was truly an honor to meet and talk to Herman Cain. He is so personable and I’d like to be like that.”
On behalf of GIADA, we’d like thank Herman Cain for taking time to serve as our keynote speaker.
