AUSTELL, GA. – August 1, 2019 – For the third consecutive year, partial proceeds from the GIADA Convention & Expo were donated to Camp Sunshine, a program that focuses on enriching the lives of children with cancer.
GIADA dealers and vendors raised a grand total of $6,000 in donations during the 2019 GIADA Convention & Expo. The donation will cover summer camp expenses for 6 children with cancer.
“We’re very excited to partner with Camp Sunshine for another year,” said Amy Bennett, Executive Director of GIADA. “Camp Sunshine backs children and family members going through family crisis. We fully support the camp’s goal to “enrich the lives of Georgia’s children with cancer and their families through recreational, educational and support programs.”
“Mo Thrash and John Haliburton, GIADA lobbyist of Thrash-Haliburton, have had a special relationship with the camp since its inception in 1982,” she continued. “Mo and Jane Thrash lost their son Callaway after he lost his battle with leukemia at the young age of 3. Camp Sunshine has been a vital resource for the Thrash family since his passing. Mo Thrash and John Haliburton send their deepest thanks to all who’ve played a role in sending children to camp.”
GIADA convention attendees and upgraded exhibitors contributed $3,000 to Camp Sunshine. $1,453 was raised through ticket sales for the Green Egg Drawing. R Allen Douglas of STARS GPS more than matched the total raised through ticket sales, donating an additional $1,547 to Camp Sunshine.
