Strength in Numbers!
A message to all Georgia Independent Auto Dealers from Paul John, GIADA CEO:
For the third time in a row, GIADA has managed to stop legislators, influenced by new-car dealers, from hiking up the TAVT tax on used-car purchases. It will stay as it is currently. We fought off a billion-dollar tax increase that could’ve negatively impacted thousands of used-car dealers and made it difficult for them to provide reliable transportation to customers who can’t afford new vehicles.
GIADA has earned a solid reputation for winning at the Capitol, making us a force to be reckoned with. The continuous success we’ve seen couldn’t have happened without our very confident GIADA government affairs team, Mo Thrash and Jon Haliburton. Against all odds, GIADA lobbyists never gave up and neither did your association. There’s nothing easy about winning in politics. We’re very lucky to have a strong government affairs team that knows how to get it done.
Lt. Gov. Casey Cagle never gave up on us, as he fought on our behalf to the very end. All early polls indicate he’ll be our next governor. Thankfully, he understands the significance of keeping the current car-tax system in place instead of allowing massive tax increases to be placed on the backs of working class people. When the polls open, Casey is the man for the job.
This win confirms that GIADA and all used-car dealers across the state not only have a voice, but a very loud and powerful one. Lawmakers heard us and they know who we are. This past session, they were reminded of just how strong we can be as a united group of small businesses. Thank you GIADA members for making the calls and sending the emails; it worked!
This is why 2,700 dealers and vendors gladly pay their annual association membership dues. It’s very clear what we do for dealers; GIADA is the largest independent auto dealer association in the U.S. If you’re reading this and you aren’t a member, pick up the phone and call 770-745-9650 or go to https://giada.org/membership/ to pay your $250 and support the state dealer association that fights relentlessly to keep Georgia a great environment to do business as a used-car dealer. Stop riding for free; it’s unfair to dealers who pay their dues every year. Do the right thing and support GIADA because GIADA supports you! We support all business models; retail, sub-prime, BHPH, brokers and digital. We don’t care if you sell five cars a month or 500. We win because there’s strength in numbers. We’ll face new challenges at the Capitol next year and we need to get to 3000 members before then. We want to keep the government out of your business and we want low vehicle tax for your customers. Don’t make excuses, join GIADA today so we can continue to protect your future!
