November Update from GIADA’s Executive Director
by Amy Bennett
The holidays are fast approaching. As business slows down a bit, please take time to review your records and make sure everything is in order. It is important that all your title work be cleared up. Make sure your safeguard policies and procedures are in full swing! Inspectors are making their rounds and we are getting several calls a day for CE certificates and dealer licenses to be printed and sent to them. Remember you should have on your wall your dealer license, business license and sales tax certificate. You should also have your CE certificate handy to show as well.
All Used Parts License holders must renew their license before December 31, 2023. Late renewal is January 1- January 31, 2024. As a GIADA member, we will be glad to help you with that renewal process. The state has a new system in place and it is a little hard to navigate through. If you hold a Used Car Dealer license, remember that renewal date has changed to September 30, 2024. CE classes will start in January 2024. GIADA will be offering in person and online CE Classes. The schedule will be printed in the next magazine and displayed on our website by December 2023. Do not forget… you must take a CE class to renew your dealer license!
The GIADA Board of Directors just completed the fall meeting. We will be watching several issues that will directly affect used car dealers in Georgia. We work very hard on your behalf, so it is more important than ever to keep up your membership. If your membership has lapsed, please call today or go online and JOIN! Numbers make a big difference when speaking to law makers! We had 12 people go to the NIADA Policy Conference and visit several of our Senators in Washington, DC. The main issue for us was to be able to identify catalytic converters with VIN numbers. Also, we want auto manufacturers to make computer software available to used car dealers to be able to fix their customers vehicles at a much lower price. This is also on NIADA’S radar!
