Several years ago, Georgia was divided into several districts. Prominent dealers represented each district and held meetings in their area. Those meetings ended one year before Amy Bennett, Executive Director of GIADA, came to the association. On Wednesday, October 17th, this tradition was reestablished, as GIADA hosted a low-country boil/district meeting at the Shell House restaurant in Savannah, GA.
A total of 45 people attended the meeting. Amy and other speakers focused on few topics including the ETR mandate, vehicle value and TAVT. The gathering lasted for 3 hours and first-time and seasoned dealers were all present. District meetings will occur bi-monthly. Depending on when and where they are, GIADA will offer either breakfast or dinner. Several dealers had issues with ETR. Accordingly, we’ll try to have a TitleTec representative at each district meeting. Jordan Foster, Georgia Account Manager, volunteered to help dealers with all of their concerns and issues. Jordan is the TitleTec representative for South Coastal Dealers in South Georgia and surrounding areas. South Georgia coastal dealers can contact her at 678-977-8788 or Jordan.Foster@titletec.com.
A huge thanks goes to Donnie Bazemore, General Manager at Southeastern Auto Auction, for his efforts in putting the event together. Donnie has an extensive history in giving back to the used-car dealer and he didn’t hesitate to assist with this event.
From the GIADA board, Jennifer and Phil Knights, Larry Mannion and Hubert Keller (former Quality Dealer of the Year) were in attendance. Kevin Thomas, a long-time friend of GIADA, and Mickey Stephens, House Representative, also showed support.
Everyone enjoyed seeing Mrs. Alma Addison. Please keep Mr. Joe Addison in your thoughts and prayers.
The fall board meeting went very well. It ran from Friday, October 12 to Saturday, October 13 and several topics were discussed including new changes, giving back to dealers, legislative issues, the trip to Washington D.C. and other routine matters. John Haliburton, GIADA lobbyist, covered legislative issues and the TAVT. A big thank you goes to Laura Sandage, Business Development at ASC Warranty, for sponsoring the Saturday night dinner. Everyone had a great time with their family. Another thank you goes to Ms. Emma Johnson for giving everyone horseback riding tips.
Dealers in Macon, GA can look forward to a district meeting on November 13, at the Piedmont Brewery & Kitchen at 6:30 p.m. We’re going to try to reach all districts in Georgia. Jason Reaves from Wayne Reaves Software will help host the event.
